Compliant Passport Photo

DV lottery photo guide for applicants from Uzbekistan

Uzbekistan is consistently among the highest-volume DV lottery countries, and the photo spec is the same for everyone: a square JPEG, exactly 600 x 600 pixels, under 240 KB, taken in the last 6 months, plain light background, no glasses. The local trap: photo studios default to document sizes like 3 x 4 cm and often retouch by habit, and a retouched photo is a disqualification risk.

Measured against the official United States visa spec: head size, eye line, background, brightness and file limits. We never edit your photo.

Use a clear, front-facing photo against a plain white wall in even light. We measure and crop it. We never edit the pixels you submit.

Studio photo or phone photo?

A studio print is not what the entry needs; the entry needs a digital file at exactly 600 x 600 pixels. If you use a studio, ask for the unretouched digital original and check it yourself. A phone photo against a plain wall in daylight works just as well and skips the retouching risk entirely.

Check the whole family before the window opens

Every family member on the entry needs their own compliant photo, and one bad photo voids the whole entry. Registration is expected in early autumn at dvprogram.state.gov, is free, and requires no agent. Prepare and verify all photos beforehand.

Frequently asked questions

Is the DV lottery free to enter from Uzbekistan?

Yes. Entry at dvprogram.state.gov is free. Agents may legitimately help with logistics but no one can improve your odds, and photo mistakes by third parties still disqualify you.

Can the photo be taken with a phone?

Yes. Even daylight, plain light wall, no filters, cropped to exactly 600 x 600 pixels and under 240 KB.
