Every person listed on a DV lottery entry needs their own compliant 600 x 600 photo: the entrant, the spouse, and each unmarried child under 21, including newborns. The children's photos fail entries as often as the main applicant's. For babies: lay them on a plain white sheet, shoot straight down, no hands or toys in frame; eyes open is not required for infants.

The family trap

Babies and toddlers

A baby on a white sheet, photographed from directly above in even light, meets the spec. No pacifiers, no parent hands visible, no car seat edges. Toddlers can sit against the wall like adults. The 600 x 600 crop and 240 KB limit apply to every photo in the entry.

Frequently asked questions

Does my newborn really need a DV lottery photo?

Yes. Every child under 21 and unmarried must be on the entry with a compliant photo, regardless of age, even if they were born days before you enter.

My spouse wears glasses daily. Can they keep them on?

No. Glasses are not allowed in DV photos for any family member, except rare documented medical reasons.
