Online renewal is the route HM Passport Office quotes at up to 3 weeks once your documents are received, and it was the actual outcome for 99.7% of standard applications in 2025 when no extra checks were needed. Postal applications are quoted at up to 10 weeks. HMPO's own guidance is still to allow up to 10 weeks and to hold off booking travel until the passport arrives, since the shorter figure is not a guarantee.
